As sound is un-arguablbly the first method of Mans'communicating, it has come a long way since the unintelligable squeaks and grunts as made by primitive Man, Although listening to some stations offerings by way of 'Music' one wonders if there HAS been any progress at all!
This years show features a dazzling array of new products..my favourite was the solid state Recording Mic from HHB used to make this very show.
We talk to PSquared, HHB, Clarke Masts & WRN.
Do join us, whether you're part of the Industry or not.. |

| HMS Northumberland - The biggest visitor to this years Schroders London Boatshow HMS Northumberland is a Type 23 Duke Class Frigate of the British Royal Navy.
More usually seen on patrol providing humanitarian aid or countering various illegal goings-on on the High-Seas of the world, we go aboard as she prepares to visit the Port of Newcastle in the North-East UK, tied-up alongside at the now, rather swish-looking (and a great exhibition & conference venue) London Docklands and talk to her Captain, Commander Alex Burton RN, who, with his Crew of nearly 200 men & women, myriad systems and plant to keep in operation, is very much likened to Management of any Corporation.
He tells Steve Lewis about life on-board, visiting the worlds trouble-spots, and how the Crew is entertained during it's R & R periods.
Parallels are drawn with business life versus life in the Military, and as it turns out they make similar demands, requiring many of the same skills, people management, budgetry juggling, lots of paperwork & awkward decisions!
Our thanks to Commander Burton and the Crew of HMS Northumberland for their co-operation and hospitality during our visit. |

| Chichester Harbour - Chichester Harbour on the south coast of the UK is a busy port that attracts many overseas visitors, not only of the human kind, but for the flocks of migrating birds this is a winter stop-over , so what happens here can affect other parts of the world quite literally . The award of £1.27 million from the Heritage Lottery Fund means that they can lauch many conservation-related projects.. like a solar-powered floating classroom.
This thriving port with its busy marinas has managed to integrate vast amounts of tourists with its important conservation work... and others in Europe have followed their model. Philip Couchman, who delights in the title of 'Manager of the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty' explains to Steve Lewis how commerce & conservation can go hand-in-hand.

Top picture looking towards Bosham Church, where KING CANUTE tried to turn back the tide and where his 8 year old daughter, who drowned after falling into the mill stream is buried. There is speculation that KING HAROLD, who died at the Battle of Hastings in 1066 is also interred here. (Click pictures for larger version.) |

| James House - As an adult, coping with a serious, perhaps terminal illness is hard enough, but to have a child with one is absolutely devastating.
Back in the summer when I interviewed former Olympic Skater Jayne Torvill ( A Patron of James House) she spoke to me passionately about their vital work.
This week the program looks at the service offered by James House Childrens Hospice here in the UK.
This charity helps children & parents in their own homes, in this highly specialised Care, Support & Nursing area.
Of course, all this takes money, and James Hannaway, their Fund-Raising Manager tells us how funds are put in place for these vital services.
The 2003 'Business World' Christmas Appeal will, I'm sure, instill in us all, the worth of giving this organisation our support.

This multi-million dollar marketing operation sells in New Zealand, Australia the UK & USA.but as Jeff explains it hasn't all been plain sailing to get to his dominating market position.
Starting from a comment by a friend who kept bees, Jeff wasn't to realise just what a large part these endearing little hard-working insects would play in his life, health & lifestyle!

| Amberley Castle - Set at the foot of the rolling South Downs in the UK County of West Sussex, we follow in the footsteps of History and find an ancient castle with all the modern niceties of the 21st Century !
With it's battlements, portcullis and high-walled seclusion, what better & more secure place to hold a seminar, conference or product launch away from the prying eyes of competitors, or without the attention of the Ladies & Gentlemen of the Press !!
We take the tour, including the 'Haunted Bedroom' rumoured to be inhabited by the ghost of Emily, who long ago, threw herself & baby from the roof...I don't know what to make of the fact that as we were in mid interview in this very room during the second half of the program, someone increased the volume on my digital recorder !!
A preferred way to arrive is by helicopter, and HARRODS the legendary London Store, runs excursions here in its Corporate machine to take Afternoon Tea.. how very civilised and a 'must do' item on your next UK itinerary! |

| Tacktick Marine Instruments - The program comes from the Emsworth, Hampshire UK, home of TACTICK.. manufacturers a range of surely, what must be the most innovative & practical yacht & power-boat instruments.. especially when considering a do-it-yourself refit.
Utilising wireless technology, these precision, state-of-the-art navigation instuments are a most desireable accessory (and neccesity!) aboard any power-boat or yacht.'Doing away with the wires' seems like a great idea, given the complexity of instrumentation on-board these days!

" For those of us who lead a busy life sustaining a business, we all too readily know the pitfalls awaiting the unwary.....and that's just the traveling to our appointment! "
When you're dashing around the globe in persuit of that target or improved bottom-line, you know from experience, what you demand from an airline, an airport operator, a train company, car hire, hotel chain and the myriad things that go towards making your journey, just a little bit better, smoother, more comfortable, and, above all, reliable.
The same obtains on the accommodation front, when, as all of us who sometimes, through neccesity, live out of the proverbial travel-bag know, the places we stay, can sometimes be rather lacking in the refinements that make for a relaxing environment, somewhere to catch-up with the paperwork,(or even sleep!) phone the office and get to grips with the the laptop, pda, or other 'infernal device'!
Now those electronic write-pads and communicators, all promise to make our lives easier, but I'm certain that I am not alone in uttering the odd oath when they go short of delivering on their brochure promises!
Enter WMSL-UK with "Business World" a regular mini-feature that is designed to take a look at all of the aspects of daily business life from the point of view of the busy exec, reporting on all of the above topics, will it do what it promises, is it reliable, how about the service, comfort, and most of all, effective in making better utilisation of your precious time? A tall order? No, I don't think so! Why not listen while you're logged-on working at your terminal or laptop, and catch-up with the latest in technology for business, goods, services, hospitality, entertainment, executive automobiles, corporate airplanes and luxury boats, for business use.....we aim to cover them all. AND REPORT BACK TO YOU!
You'll probably notice that for your convenience, we've placed links and banners on our website to let you book flights to worldwide destinations, vacations, special offers, web-shopping, competitions and you can even visit our online casinos, order computer accessories and programs, buy insurance and with the advent of our teaming up with our news provider partnership with Business Wire, you can see, at a glance all of the latest from the corporate world, all without leaving your desk....of course while listening to "Just GREAT songs from the 80s 90s & Today!" ......to help get you through YOURS!
Our dedicated "BUSINESS WORLD" page carries details of the weeks' report, and adds more links to our Preferred Partner Program all the time.
